This 40-hour comprehensive course is designed for civic and community leaders who may be involved with incident management and/or planning responsibilities when facing a large scale disaster. Participants will be exposed to all phases of emergency operations and management through classroom presentations and actual hands-on applications utilizing an Emergency Operations Center. This course meets selected NFPA, OSHA, NIMS, and FEMA objectives for emergency management and emergency response. This course focuses on:
Target Audience: Mayors, County and City Managers, County and City Administrators, Public Works Directors, Budget Managers, Emergency Planning Coordinators, State Emergency Managers, Police Chiefs, Fire Chiefs, Transit Managers, and other Public Officials

Scholarship information
Acceptance into this 40-hour course is by application
only. All tuition,
travel, lodging and meals are paid in full by scholarship, granted to U.S.
participants upon acceptance through the University of Nevada, Reno Fire
Science Academy by the U.S. Department of Energy. Wages are not covered
and all other incidental expenses are the responsibility of each participant.

made from qualified applicants. The FSA will notify applicants of their
acceptance in writing. Upon acceptance, applicants will be sent a complete

If you are accepted into the course
Students will be notified of acceptance in writing as soon as possible.
Upon acceptance, you will receive an FSA Student Registration Form/Waiver,
Release and Indemnification Agreement to complete, sign and return to FSA
immediately. Students are required to familiarize themselves with all FSA
policies and registration requirements. Please read policies and forms
